The Story Behind the Music
How "Faithful Friend" came to life
The Night I Stripped Away the Armor: The true story behind “Faithful Friend”
There are moments in life where everything that seems to be a priority, . . . things that draws the attention suddenly falls quiet, forcing you to look directly inward. Many years ago, I hit one of those crossroads. I was navigating a heavy season of life that stripped away all the usual noise and left me standing face-to-face with my own vulnerabilities, my mistakes, and my faith.
I remember sitting down with no agenda, no strict rules, and no overthinking about the melody, chords or lyrics. I didn’t want to just make a track; I needed to dig into the deepest part of my soul to create something that could truly express what I was feeling.
That was the night “Faithful Friend” was born.
The lyrics came from a place of just being real honest with myself. Like staring in a mirror and translating what I saw and felt into music. When you listen to the track, you’re hearing a confession: “Just the other day I told you I was fine... but I’ve lost my way again.” It’s about that exhausting human habit of pretending everything is okay to the outside world, while inside, you are on your knees praying for the strength to just keep pushing on.
The core of this song is the realization that “we don't have to carry our burdens alone”. Whether you look at that "faithful friend" as a spiritual anchor, God, our Creator or someone in your life who truly knows your heart, it represents a safe space. A presence that doesn't judge you when you fall, knows exactly what to say, and brings you out of the darkness.
